تغییر اقلیم، مقیاس ­های جغرافیایی (جهانی، منطقه­ای، ملی و محلی) را تحت تأثیر قرار می ­دهد و شدت آن در کشورهای گوناگون مختلف است به­­ طوریکه در یک کشور زمینه­ ی خشکسالی، گرمایش هوا و در کشور دیگر بارش بیش از حد برف و بارندگی، خود را نشان می­دهد. با توجه به قرارگیری کشور ایران در عرض­های جغرافیایی پایین، این کشور در زمره­ی کشورهایی قرار دارد که از پیامدهای امنیتی تغییر اقلیم در امان نبوده است. پژوهش حاضر در پی پاسخ­دهی به دو پرسش می­باشد: 1) پیامدهای امنیتی تغییر اقلیم بر کشور ایران کدامند و کدام مؤلفه­ها بیشترین تأثیر را بر کشور ایران دارند؟ 2) کدام شاخص از ارکان حکمروایی شایسته به­ عنوان یک راه­حل بیشترین تأثیر را بر کاهش اثرات تغییرات اقلیمی بر کشور ایران دارد؟ در این پژوهش جامعه­ی مورد مطالعه نخبگان و متخصصان آشنا به موضوع تحقیق هستند که تعداد 100 نفر از آن­ها به منظور نمونه­گیری با روش گلوله برفی انتخاب شدند و از پرسشنامه­ی محقق ساخته برای جمع­آوری داده­ها و اطلاعات، جهت تجزیه و تحلیل استفاده شد و همچنین با استفاده از نرم­افزارهای SPSS و MINITAB به ارزیابی داده­ها پرداخته شد. نتایج بررسی­ها با توجه به میزان P-value به­دست آمده که برابر با 0.000 بوده و از آلفای 0.05 کوچکتر است، نشان­دهنده­ی وجود تفاوت میان پیامدهای طبیعی و انسانی تغییراقلیم در کشور ایران است. نتایج آزمون توکی بیانگر این است که پیامد طبیعی تغییراقلیم با میانگین 4.0584 در گروه A  و پیامدهای انسانی با میانگین 3.4460 نیز در گروه B قرار گرفته است. همچنین نتایج آزمون فریدمن تأثیر ارکان حکمروایی شایسته در کنترل و کاهش پیامدهای امنیتی تغییرات اقلیمی در ایران نشان می­دهد که مسئولیت­پذیری با میانگین رتبه­ی 5.79 در رتبه­ی اول، حاکمیت قانون با میانگین رتبه­ی 5.62 در رتبه­ی دوم و پاسخگو بودن مسئولان با میانگین رتبه­ی 5.32 در رتبه ی سوم قرار دارند.
