Today, livability and creating a habitable environment in rural areas, which guarantees a desirable quality of life for villagers and can provide an active and dynamic environment for their work, residence, and leisure, is the main goal of rural development planners. This is because only by transforming villages from environments with low levels of livability and quality of life to environments with a desirable quality of life can we address persistent rural problems such as poverty, unemployment, and widespread migration. In this regard, the present applied research, conducted using a descriptive-analytical method, assessed the livability status of rural environments in Marivan County. Data were collected in the theoretical section through documentary methods and in the practical section through a survey. Questionnaires were distributed among 350 household heads using a random sampling method across the districts of the county, and the data were analyzed using inferential tests (Chi-square, One-sample T-test, Path Analysis, and Friedman's Rank Test). The results indicated that, given the obtained mean of 2.94, the livability status of the studied villages is not at a satisfactory level. Among the dimensions, the mean livability of the studied villages was 2.78 in the economic dimension, 2.92 in the social dimension, 3.16 in the environmental dimension, and 3.01 in the physical dimension. As observed, the economic dimension, with the lowest mean, has the most unfavorable status in terms of livability in the studied rural environments. Additionally, further results revealed that the economic dimension has the greatest impact on shaping the current livability status of the studied villages.
